Just Like Me

Listening to my oldest daughter pray is an interesting experience. Much of what she says during her prayers is a repurposing of what I’ve said in my prayers for her. During my conversations with God I thank Him for my day. She offers the same thanks in her prayers. I ask God to watch over us as we sleep, so does she. My words have become her words. Our prayer time together no longer has to begin with me saying, “Repeat after me, dear Jesus…”. She has seen and heard me enough times to know what to do. Read More …

The Voice

I used to love to sing when I was a kid. It felt good to have a couple of solos with the children’s choir. Things were going well until I hit those trouble years – puberty. One day I stood in front of church preparing to sing. Holding the microphone I waited for my musical cue. When I opened my mouth an awful sound emerged. The New You

All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?” Acts 9:21                       

To describe it as a party would be overgenerous. It was not a party.  My family and I rung in the New Year alongside two other couples and their kids. We ate pizza, played games and told parenting jokes. It was simple, mostly quiet, and no one had to call AAA for a ride home.
